MAKONGO FILMS started from a meeting between Elvis Sabin Ngaïbino, Daniele Incalcaterra and Boris Lojkine, all directors, during a training workshop in documentary filmmaking organized in the Central African Republic. In this country where cinema is almost absent, they decide to set up a production company together, in order to support the emergence of a generation of young Central African directors. Makongo, the first film produced by their company and directed by Elvis Sabin Ngaïbino, won two prizes at the Cinéma du Réel in 2020 and is currently continuing its world tour of festivals. Makongo Films is currently developing three feature-length documentaries that use the direct cinema approach to narrate the daily difficulties and the beauty of Central African life. The editing of Nous, Etudiants! by Rafiki Fariala, supported by aide aux cinémas du monde, is almost completed.
