Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Guetty Felin grew up in New York and moved to Paris for several years. She studied Communication, Political Science and Film at Queens College of the City University of New York, and then in France at Paris VIII and La Sorbonne. Guetty Felin has directed and produced numerous documentary films for European and American television. Her favorite themes revolve around exile, memory and the unbearable mystery by which our past has generated our present, an inner voice that resonates throughout her writing and directing. She is the founder and artistic director of Lumière du Sud - Rencontres cinématographiques de Jacmel which had its second edition in January 2019.
