Bio

Luis Marquès is co-head of ALMA PRODUCTION, a production company based in the Ivory Coast. He has been the head of the cultural organisation l’ŒIL DU CYCLONE in Ouagadougou (Burkina-Faso) since 2005. He created and co-directed the Ymako Teatri theatre company in Abidjan from 1991 to 2005. He also created and coordinated the Arts Festival of the Rue de Grand–Bassam from 1996 to 2003. Ha has won numerous awards, including the Theatre First Prize of the Ivorian Ministry of Culture (CENAC) in 2019; the Gold Medal of the Jeux de la Francophonie in 2017 ; the 2016 Francophone Trophy for Best scenario for l’œil du Cyclone and the 1994 R.F.I prize for his show Sery Gbalou. He also was a consultant for the UNESCO’s Theatre and Culture programme for peace in 1999-2000.
