Bio

Marcel Meltherorong is a major player in the cultural life of Vanuatu where he has organised festivals, art exhibitions and worked for the youth. Very active on the music scene, he created the bands "XX Squad" and "Kalja Riddim Klan". He became also the country's first published novelist with his book "Tôghàn" in 2007. In October 2012, he was made a "Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres" by the French Ambassador to Vanuatu. His second novel, "Nagaemas" was published in 2013. More recently, he has been involved in film making with the association Further Arts. There, he directed the documentary film "Rod Blong Kava" released in December 2019. Since 2020, he has been co-directing Stamba blo Fridom, a documentary series and a documentary film about the independence of his country, Vanuatu, with Fred Fontes.
