Bio

Machérie BAHANGO, born in Kinsangani in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), has a law degree but learned filmmaking on her own, on the internet and by collaborating on films shot in Kinshasa: "KIMPA VITA: THE MOTHER OF THE AFRICAN REVOLUTION" then "FÉLICITÉ" by Alain GOMIS, on which she was in charge of translating the script into Lingala. In 2018, her feature film "MAKI’LA" won an award at the Berlinale and won the Jury Prize at the JCC in Carthage (Tunis). With her own company "CL1 D’ŒIL STUDIO", she is currently finalizing her second film "ZAÏRA" (fiction) and while preparing a documentary.
