Bio
Rama THIAW was born in 1978, in Nouakchott. A Mauritanian- Senegalese, she grew up between Senegal and Europe.
After a master's degree in international economics at the Sorbonne, she obtained a diploma in cinema at the University of Paris 8 & Paris 3. In 2005, she began working in French production companies before embarking on the production of her own films.
She is a screenwriter, director and producer; and lives in Dakar, where she created the production company BOUL FALLÉ IMAGES in 2010. She works as a guest professor in several prestigious universities such as Smith College or Mount Holyoke in the USA.
In 2019, she organized the first edition of the “Sabbar Artistiques de Dakar”, a multidisciplinary cultural event dedicated to African and Afro-descendant women.
In 2020, she also joined the selection committee for the Panorama section of the Berlinale.
