Bio

Seydou CISSÉ is a graduate of the Fresnoy - Studio National des Arts Contemporains and the Conservatory of Arts and Crafts in Bamako. A He is Malian, and his work is largely influenced by the ancestral culture of the country, its traditions, its superstitions, and also the various changes that animism has undergone in contact with other cultures. In his productions, he mixes temporalities and takes us on a journey into the universe of textures and colors, perceived as elements to be tamed. To do this, he uses different techniques and materials, thus making matter the structuring element of many of his works. Through the exploration of video, painting, sculpture, photography or installations, he summarily questions a central issue: which of nature and technology is ultimately at the service of the other?
