Bio
Joseph Gaï Ramaka is a filmmaker from Senegal. In 1997, he directed a medium-length film entitled «AINSI SOIT-IL», a film for which he won the Silver Lion at the 54th Mostra de Venise. His first feature, «KARMEN», was screened in Cannes in May 2001, in Sundance, and during the 2002 Pan African Film & Arts festival (PAFF) awards in Los Angeles. His second feature, «ET IS LATIF AVAIT RAISON”, won the Best Documentary Film award at the Vues d’Afrique festival in Montreal in 2006. In 2009, his film «IT’S MY MAN ! » was his first film shot in the USA, a documentary about a love story. In 2007, he created the New Orleans African Film Festival. And it is in 2013 that Joseph created Gorée Island Cinema, a space for networking and creating films, which has been organizing the Gorée Cinéma Festival since 2015.
