Description

Gorée Island Cinéma is a cultural company based on Gorée Island, thought as a space for networking and promoting cultures from Africa and the African diaspora. Our company aims at enhancing this symbolic island by benefitting from programmes blending artistic production and social entrepreneurship. In May 2015, we started the Gorée Cinema festival, in order to carry our voice and our intentions towards communities in Senegal and beyond. Since then, we have conceived an ensemble of cultural events with cinema at its centre, but also open to other artistic disciplines (music, painting, theatre…). Our eagerness for narratives and audiovisual productions contributes to our model. The whole of the projects we take on match our motto : cinema is a tool that can transform reality.
